Participants in the Livestock Evaluation CDE cooperatively classify livestock as “keep” or “cull” for market and breeding purposes based on physical characteristics and records. They evaluate cattle, sheep, and pigs based on their overall stucture, qualitites, and the traits the animals contain. There are four animals in the ring and the contestant ranks the animals in the order which they think is the best animal. There are two classes on each species; may include market barrow, market/breeding guilts, market ewes, breeding ewes, bulls, breeding heifers, and steers.
